2016 VISIT BY VICTORIA BOWLS CLUB, BALLARAT

The Annual tradition continues.........For 32 years the Victoria Bowls Club of Ballarat and Doncaster Bowling Club have visited each other to have a friendly day of bowling in January. This year it was Doncaster's turn to host. The bus arrived at 11.30 a.m. and the 38 visitors ate their lunch whilst friendships were made or renewed. Mixed teams were chosen and 21 ends were played on perfect greens on a perfect day. By 4.30 p.m. it was time for drinks all around, and soon the winning team consisting of Neil English (Doncaster), Brenda Hughes(Victoria, Kath Kellet(Victoria) and Dinesh Balgovind (Doncaster) was announced. The exchange of pens from Doncaster to Victoria, and drinking glasses from Victoria to Doncaster by Victoria's Past President, Bob Whitcher, and Doncaster's President, Sandy McDonald was also made. This was amid laughter and comments from many members to which was the more useful...the pens or the glasses. There was an extra ham raffle which was won by Pamela McLean. One hundred happy people then sat down for a delicious meal of salads and trifle prepared by Fran Broadfoot and her many helpers. By 7.30 p.m. the bus and the tired occupants were on their way back to Ballarat. So ended another successful exchange between our two clubs......... Lyn Goodman
